A few pieces of news, for those who have note received an email from me today:
- This meeting between Wirral Council’s technical staff, the Environment Agency and UU takes place on Friday 31 October. As soon as I have the outcome of that meeting, I will let you know. I have also asked for a meeting as soon as possible after Friday for with Peter Osborne and their technical staff to agree what happens next.
- The Council’s legal staff have been unable to confirm to me whether we (the Council) can prosecute UU under the Environment Protection Act of 1990. The Environmental Health officers are now pursuing that and will have an answer for me soon, I hope!
- I have since received an email from a resident of Cornflower Way, outlining the problems they have with drainage, some of which seems to be linked to the problems on Reeds Lane and also due to the fact that United Utilities have yet to ‘adopt’ the drains on that estate. The information in that email has also been passed to the Council’s tech services staff and UU
- You may have seen further articles and letters in the local press recently, regarding flooding problems in Greasby and also the Beechwood estate. While this adds to the evidence of problems caused by overdevelopment of certain parts of the Borough, I have advised the Council officers that dealing with Reedville Grove/Reeds Lane must remain the priority, simply because of the damage residents have suffered.
