To: Steve Foulkes, Leader, Wirral Council
Dear Steve
First, let me say how sorry I was to read the comments by one of the Labour Group in today’s Daily Post. I’m sure his swift apology was, no doubt, down to you.
Throughout the whole saga of the SAR you, and you alone, have been prepared to stand up and be counted. The support of your coalition partners, the Liberal Democrats, has been lacking and noticeable by its absence.
I believe you were wrong, however, to dictate that there should be one meeting for all Wallasey. It was always going to be the case that some of the people living in Leasowe and Moreton would be excluded from your ‘consultation’ and so it has proved.
Tonight, you have the chance to salvage what is left of your Party’s reputation in this town. In spite of the 11th hour intervention of the current MP, I’m afraid your Party in Wallasey and Moreton has been noticeable by its absence.
The residents and user groups however, have more than compensated. I urge you to listen to the people of Wallasey and Moreton and kill the SAR. All of it. Anything less will be a betrayal of the people in this town.
Regards
Cllr. Ian Lewis
