In spite of 34,000 people making their views crystal clear, Labour tonight decided to carry on with the cuts. Seacombe Library, Wallasey Village Library and a range of others will all go. Guinea Gap will go, just not yet, and instead, gets a two-year lifeline which, handily, takes us past the next Council elections and the next General Election.
There was no change to any of the plans affecting any of the services in Moreton and Leasowe and, to make matters worse, we will now see Eastham Library close as well.
Judging by the anger of many traditional Labour voters, I believe this is the self-destruct button for their Party. If a Labour Council, a LABOUR COUNCIL, cuts services affecting the most deprived and usually loyal Labour voting areas, then what is the point in having it?
