Walkabout in Cameron Road, MacKenzie Road, Grant Road…
This morning was spent on ‘walkabout’ in part of Leasowe with officers from Leasowe Community Homes and Moreton Police Station as well as a ‘street rep’ who acts as a link between Leasowe Community Homes and their tenants. We walked around Cameron Road, MacKenzie Road and Grant Road, as well as some of the roads off – Boyd Close, Davis Road, Kellett Road and scoresby Road.
The issue that seems to affect pretty much all the properties is the very poor condition of the gutters and soffitts (the wooden boards under the gutters). Paint is peeling and guters are full of grass. Some of the ‘environmental’ issues include damaged fencing and rubbish and litter in some gardens. Hopefully, LCH will now be able to tackle these issues.
I was pleased to see the company has got a grip on the grasscutting. A couple of years ago, I complained to LCH that many of the enclosed grassed areas were overgrown and full of litter. Today, many (but not all) have been cut and, in the words of the street rep, ‘have never looked better’.
There were also issues that the Council needs to know about – pot holes in some roads (which I will report to Streetscene today) and the need for road markings on the junction of Grant Road and Ross Avenue, after some of residents approached us on the way round.
- Worn out road surface, Oxley Avenue
- Rubbish behind garages on MacKenzie Road
- Uneven ‘dropped’ kerb at the junction of Grant Road and Scoresby Road
- Poor road surface outside Cameron Road play area
- Litter on either side of the railings alongside the Birket
